Interview – Meet Dasha Grozdanic of Greenmakeup

1. Tell us a little about yourself

I’m the kind of person who needs deeper answers to questions of all sorts going on in my head, even those that we don’t see just with our eyes. And till I’m not satisfied I keep on searching. I’m not a kind of woo woo woo person with the head in the clouds, but I know that we are not just a mere piece of flesh.

I’m also fully aware that we are all very different and I appreciate each one’s choices. I love beauty in all its forms (not just makeup related things, although these are my source of joy from an early age. I love reading all sorts of books and magazines (fashion, beauty, art, cooking, esoteric,…), it just has to be creative and interesting enough to fullfil my endless need for new knowledge!

Well, among earthy things I also adore eating very good and cooking too! It’s a joy to discover novelties from different cultures, cooking and creating on my own (expert in pasta & soups). I think that in the kitchen creativity and good mood are the most important part of health!

I love all sorts of art exhibitions. Another magnetic attraction is when I see beautiful designed clothes, bags, shoes, makeup pieces, bottles, you name it! I’m not a fashion junkie at all, but I really like when things are designed from its own spirit and imagination, curated and well manufactured. Lastly, I like when I lift the mood of someone who needs it, because I’m very sensitive to people’s feelings. As a great tool that helped myself as well, I have discovered and studied in the past Bach flower essences because they have helped me personally a lot on my way. And why not, share it from my fountain of knowledge with others as well 🙂

2. What made you start blogging and what’s the story behind Green Make-up?

green make up

I just wanted to write a beauty blog a few years before I started Green make-up, but somehow it never happened.

It seems that the right time had to come, because suddenly I got the idea to include green cosmetics in the blog too. I was using and researching it for 2 years at that time and so everything started.

3. Can you remember the moment when you realized that makeup is your passion? If yes, tell us more…

make up tools

I don’t want to sound pathetic, but it wasn’t a moment.

Deep inside I knew it from when I was about 6 years old, because I was obsessed to draw perfumes, lipsticks…and play not just with Barbie, but with all beauty toys and stealing to mom beauty tools as well 🙂

Later when in elementary school I didn’t know about makeup artist as a job, but I was collecting eyeshadows because of their colours and all those beauty things made me escape in my world.

4. If you had to make it, how would your list of 5 most important makeup products look like?

Uh, that’s a tough one, but will try 🙂

mascara

  1. light foundation (or a tinted moisturiser or a BB cream)
  2. eyelash curler
  3. mascara
  4. lipstick in a medium bright colour to enhance the entire face (like a nice coral)
  5. bronzer (semi matte and not orangey!) to slightly enhance the contours and add depth to the face

And that’s basically an entire make-up done (well, must say that I’m a little bit post-summer influenced with this choice).

If I’d do a fall- winter inspired list would change 4. with a tinted eye&lip 2in1 balm and n.5 with a chunky pencil that adds a smoky eye effect (in deep silver grey shade) and can be used as an eyeshadow all over or as a pencil liner. And you are ready in 5 minutes 🙂

5. Do you have favorite makeup brands and if yes, what are they?

vapour organic

For my personal use some of my favourites are Vapour organic beauty, Jane Iredale, RMS beauty, Nvey Eco, Lavera, Logona among the main ones.

6. Do you personally prefer classic makeup styles or enjoy following trends?

I love a mix of both, a fusion I’d say, because I don’t follow trends “blindly”, but I love to mix everything together upon my intuition and mood and also depending on style.

clasic make up or not

7. Please give us your 5 main tips for the the girls out there trying to find their “look”.

find your own style

Don’t follow directly the “celebrity” looks, it may not suit you. Instead explore the colours and textures, different styles and follow your own guide.

Let your face features dictate what you will wear. Search and discover what you like and dare to have your own style. Don’t be a “copy-paste” girl without your own individuality.

8. What are your favorite makeup websites/blogs?

Honestly, I don’t surf a lot on those typical sites or blogs. I prefer reading “real” magazines. But I love Style.com since ever.

I don’t use to read anymore blogs about natural cosmetics because of lack of time. I have people/readers from my own blog who I love because they tend to share with me their opinions, news,…and that’s great! Recently I search much more for painter’s blogs and art inspirations 🙂

9. A message to your fans.

Thank you for being part of my green make-up & beauty world! Love yourself and accept yourself as you are!
